"同学，来掷个骰子吧！"

每位玩家从"起点"出发，拿起骰子，轻轻一掷，踏上我们精心设计的定制ARGO-ZZU主题棋盘。棋盘上每一个格子都暗藏玄机——停到不同位置，就要完成对应的指令：

有的格子考验你对碱基配对的了解：

"A配什么？

""T！"

"C配什么？"

"G！"

 答对的同学得意洋洋，答错的同学挠挠头，旁边的队友笑着科普。

有的格子是趣味挑战：模仿DNA双螺旋转一圈、用三个词解释什么是合成生物学、说出一种你认识的微生物……

还有的格子是"幸运格"——直接前进三步，引来一片羡慕声。

顺利到达"终点"格子，第一关通关！ 通关的同学拿着小奖品（棒棒糖或精美纸巾），脸上写满了"原来科学可以这么好玩"的惊喜。

💡 幕后小彩蛋：这个棋盘的设计灵感来自我们项目的核心逻辑——用碱基配对解释技术。A-T、C-G，看似简单的配对规则，却是生命信息传递的基础。我们想让每一个参与者都感受到：合成生物学，离你并不遥远。

“Hey there, why not have a go at rolling the dice?”

Each player starts at ‘Go’, picks up the dice, gives it a gentle roll, and steps onto our carefully designed, custom ARGO-ZZU themed board. Every square on the board holds a secret—landing on different positions requires completing the corresponding task:

•Some squares test your knowledge of base pairing: “What does A pair with?” “T!” “What does C pair with?” “G!” Those who answer correctly beam with pride, whilst those who get it wrong scratch their heads, with teammates nearby smiling as they explain the science.

•    Some squares present fun challenges: imitating a full rotation of the DNA double helix, explaining what synthetic biology is in three words, or naming a microorganism you recognise…

•    Other squares are ‘Lucky Squares’—land on one and you move forward three spaces, drawing envious murmurs from the crowd.

Reach the ‘Finish’ square successfully, and you’ve cleared the first level! Students who make it through receive a small prize (a lollipop or a pack of fancy tissues), their faces beaming with the surprise that ‘science can actually be this much fun’.

💡 Behind-the-scenes tidbit: The design of this board was inspired by the core logic of our project — explaining technology through base pairing. A-T, C-G: these seemingly simple pairing rules form the very foundation of life’s information transfer. We wanted every participant to feel that synthetic biology is not as far removed from them as they might think.

"计时开始！30秒！"

桌上放着两块ARGO-ZZU主题logo拼图，参与者需要在30秒内完成拼图。听起来简单？但当你面对一块陌生的图案，时间一秒一秒流逝，手指飞快移动——那种紧张感和成就感，只有拼过的人才懂！

有的同学手速惊人，20秒就完成，引来围观群众的阵阵惊叹；

有的同学拼到最后一秒，在队友的加油声中"压线"完成，激动得差点跳起来；

还有的同学虽然超时了，但坚持拼完，我们照样送上鼓励奖——因为科学精神，就是永不放弃！

💡 设计巧思：这一关的灵感来自我们项目的另一核心——用拼图隐喻修复大脑。阿尔茨海默病患者的记忆就像一块块散落的拼图，而我们的研究，正是试图用合成生物学的力量，帮助"拼回"那些丢失的记忆。每一块拼图的归位，都是一次对"记忆修复"的温柔致敬。

‘Time’s up! 30 seconds!’

Two ARGO-ZZU-themed jigsaw puzzles lay on the table, and participants had to complete them within 30 seconds. Sounds simple? But when faced with an unfamiliar pattern, with time ticking away and your fingers moving at lightning speed—that sense of tension and achievement is something only those who’ve done it can truly understand!

•    Some students were astonishingly quick, finishing in just 20 seconds and drawing gasps of amazement from the onlookers;

•    Others worked right up to the very last second, crossing the finish line amidst their teammates’ cheers and nearly jumping for joy;

•    And whilst some went over the time limit, they persisted until the end, and we still presented them with an encouragement award — because the spirit of science means never giving up!

💡 Design Insight: The inspiration for this round comes from another core aspect of our project—using jigsaw puzzles as a metaphor for repairing the brain. The memories of Alzheimer’s patients are like scattered pieces of a jigsaw, and our research aims to harness the power of synthetic biology to help ‘reassemble’ those lost memories. Every piece that finds its place is a gentle tribute to ‘memory restoration’.

如果说前两关是"动脑+动手"，第三关就是"走心"。

规则很简单，但门槛很高——

现场给家里的长辈（爷爷奶奶/外公外婆/父母）打一通电话，电话里必须说出："我爱你们！"

说完，即可参与终极抽奖。

我们准备了丰厚的奖品池：

但比奖品更珍贵的，是电话那头的反应：

一位男生拨通妈妈的电话，说完"我爱你"后，电话那头沉默了两秒，然后传来妈妈略带哽咽的声音："怎么突然说这个……妈妈也爱你。" 男生挂了电话，耳朵有点红，但笑得特别灿烂。

一位女生打给奶奶，奶奶用浓重的乡音说："妞妞，是不是没钱了？" 

全场爆笑，女生哭笑不得地解释："不是不是，就是想你了！"

还有一位同学打给爸爸，爸爸沉默了半天，憋出一句："……好好学习。" 

典型的中国式父爱，但大家都懂——那份爱，藏在每一个"好好学习"里。

💡 这一关的设计初衷：我们项目的第三个核心逻辑是——用电话连接爱与关怀。阿尔茨海默病不仅夺走患者的记忆，也让无数家庭承受着情感的重负。我们希望通过这通电话，提醒每一个人：在追逐科学梦想的同时，别忘了回头看看那些爱你的人。

If the first two levels were about “using your brain and getting hands-on”, this third level is all about “touching the heart”.

The rules are simple, but the bar is set high —

Give your elderly relatives at home (grandparents or parents) a call right now, and you must say: “I love you!”

Once you’ve said it, you’re eligible for the grand prize draw.

We’ve prepared a generous prize pool:

But even more precious than the prizes is the reaction on the other end of the line:

•A boy rang his mum. After saying ‘I love you’, there was a two-second silence on the other end, followed by his mum’s slightly choked voice: ‘Why are you saying this all of a sudden… Mum loves you too.’ The boy hung up, his ears a little red, but with a huge smile on his face.

•    A girl rang her grandma, who said in a thick local accent: ‘Sweetie, have you run out of money?’ The whole room burst into laughter, and the girl, torn between laughter and tears, explained: “No, no, I just missed you!”

•    Another student rang her dad. He was silent for ages before finally managing to say: “…Study hard.” A classic example of Chinese paternal love, but everyone understood—that love was hidden in every “study hard”.

💡 The original intention behind this stage: The third core principle of our project is to use the telephone to connect love and care. Alzheimer’s disease not only robs patients of their memories, but also places an emotional burden on countless families. Through this phone call, we hope to remind everyone: whilst pursuing your scientific dreams, don’t forget to look back at those who love you.

前两关通关的同学：可以选择 棒棒糖（科学很苦，但我们可以很甜🍭）或 精美纸巾（万一第三关感动哭了，用得上）。

终极抽奖环节：奖品箱前围满了期待的目光。一等奖揭晓时，欢呼声差点掀翻帐篷顶；拿到参与奖的同学也笑得很开心——毕竟，能勇敢说出"我爱你"，本身就是最大的奖品。

📸 幕后花絮：那些闪光的小瞬间

拍照同学举着相机满场跑，记录下每一个掷骰子的瞬间、每一次拼图的专注、每一通电话里或羞涩或坦然的表情。

游戏区的三位小伙伴嗓子都快喊哑了——

"这边来！飞行棋还差一个人！"

"拼图挑战有人来挑战吗？"

"30秒！还有10秒！加油！"

抽奖区的同学一边核对名单一边偷笑："今天听到了好多'我爱你'，感觉自己也变温柔了。"

傍晚收摊时，有人发现定制棋盘上被画了一个小爱心，不知道是哪个可爱的参与者留下的——科学和浪漫，从来不冲突。

在紧张刺激的抽奖环节中，有几名同学幸运地抽到了特等奖，并与我们的工作人员进行了合影留念。

💚 写在最后：解码生命，连接爱

从清晨的布置到黄昏的收尾，从第一个参与者到最后一通电话，郑州大学iGEM团队用一场路演，诠释了我们对合成生物学的理解：

它不只是实验室里的培养皿和测序仪，它也可以是在南操场的阳光下，在飞行棋的骰子里，在30秒拼图的紧张中，在一声"我爱你"的回声里。

我们用碱基配对解释技术的精妙，用拼图隐喻修复大脑的愿景，用电话连接跨越时空的爱与关怀。

这就是ARGO-ZZU，这就是郑州大学iGEM团队。

Students who passed the first two stages could choose between a lollipop (science may be tough, but we can still enjoy a sweet treat 🍭) or a pack of fine tissues (just in case the third stage moves you to tears 😭).

During the grand prize draw, expectant eyes gathered around the prize box. When the first prize was announced, the cheers nearly blew the roof off the tent; even those who received participation prizes were beaming with joy—after all, having the courage to say ‘I love you’ is, in itself, the greatest prize of all.

📸 Behind the Scenes: Those Sparkling Moments

•    The student in charge of photography dashed around the venue with their camera, capturing every dice roll, every moment of concentration on the jigsaw puzzles, and every expression—whether shy or uninhibited—during the phone calls.

•The three volunteers in the games area were nearly hoarse from shouting: “Over here! We’re one player short for Ludo!” “Anyone up for the jigsaw challenge?” “30 seconds! 10 seconds left! Come on!”

•    The student at the prize draw desk chuckled to herself as she checked the list: “I’ve heard so many ‘I love yous’ today, I feel like I’ve softened a bit myself.”

•    As we were packing up in the evening, someone noticed a little heart had been drawn on the custom-made game board; we’re not sure which of our lovely participants left it there—science and romance are never at odds.

•    During the thrilling prize draw, several students were lucky enough to win the grand prize and posed for photos with our staff.

💚 In closing: Decoding life, connecting love

From the early morning set-up to the evening wrap-up, from the first participant to the final phone call, the Zhengzhou University iGEM team used this roadshow to interpret our understanding of synthetic biology:

It is not just petri dishes and sequencers in the laboratory; it can also be found in the sunlight on the South Sports Field, in the dice of the board game, in the tension of a 30-second jigsaw puzzle, and in the echo of a ‘I love you’.

We used base pairing to explain the subtleties of the technology, employed jigsaw puzzles as a metaphor for our vision of repairing the brain, and used the telephone to connect love and care across time and space.
